Red Tea is actually a South African herb cultivated only in the mountains and valleys of the Cedarberg region near Cape Town. Widely known as rooibos (pronounced ROY-boss), you may also hear it referred to as Red Tea or red bush.
Naturally caffeine-free, Red Tea brews an aromatic, amber-hued cup. Sip and you’ll taste a faintly sweet, mellow character, low in tannins with very little bitterness. Like black tea, rooibos is oxidized. Like green tea, it is brimming with powerful antioxidants, but is naturally caffeine-free and actually contains even more health-promoting properties.
Some call rooibos a wonder herb, with good reason. On top of its super polyphenols and flavonoids, which limit the effects of free-radicals in the process of aging and defend the immune system, rooibos contains zinc and alpha hydroxy acid, both of which contribute to healthy skin. It also delivers magnesium, necessary for a healthy nervous system.
And for the stomach, Red Tea has antispasmodic properties to help calm digestive problems such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn and stomach ulcers. We advise sipping it often, for its flavor and for a healthier life.
