Leading purveyor of premium teas receives Gold Award for Healthy Minister Program
NOVATO, CALIF., (November 14, 2012) – The Republic of Tea, leading purveyor of premium teas, has received Gold Award Recognition from The American Heart Association as a 2012-2013 Fit-Friendly Worksite. The American Heart Association defines Fit-Friendly Worksites as businesses that go above and beyond when it comes to their employees’ health. Winners are chosen based on the unique initiatives they implement to help lower the risk of heart disease among all their associates.
The Republic of Tea recognizes the importance of a healthy workplace, and creates a culture of wellness by providing support to its employees (“Ministers”) through the Healthy Minister Program, which offers educational opportunities and resources to help them achieve and maintain a life of health, balance, and well being.
The Healthy Minister Program offers lifestyle benefits such as “Make a Difference” days (paid volunteerism), profit sharing, a scholarship program, and child care credit, in addition to incentives to live a healthy life including:
• Annual athletic shoe reimbursement
• Access to a full-time nutritionist for individual counseling sessions
• A $500 annual fitness credit for health club memberships or weight loss programs
• Free weekly yoga classes held on-site
• Healthy snacks in its kitchens
• Encouragement to take daily 10-15 minute walking breaks
“Our Ministers are the foundation of The Republic of Tea; we believe that living a healthy lifestyle is critical to achieving success in all aspects of life, and that individuals, by changing their behavior in positive ways, can positively influence others”, said Ron Rubin, Minister of Tea. “The Gold Level Award is a great honor to have won, and is fully aligned with our belief in taking life Sip by Sip Rather Than Gulp by Gulp.”
As a winner in this category, The Republic of Tea receives official recognition on the American Heart Association website and local recognition at American Heart Association events. The Republic of Tea was also recently named to Outside Magazine’s “Best Places to Work” as a reflection of its dedication and commitment to improving employee health and fostering a workplace in which it’s Ministers can thrive.
