Be Active Teas with a Base of Organic Green Rooibos

Featuring the Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM Seal

Organic Green Rooibos

Please join The Republic of Tea® on a journey high in the sunny Cedarberg Mountains in the Western Cape region in South Africa. It is here where a needle-like herb endemic to this region grows. Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) is a member of the legume family, and it has been enjoyed since turn of the century when local bushmen discovered that fermenting and sun drying the needle-like leaves of this wild mountain plant produced a tasty and fortifying tea.

Immediately after being hand-harvested, the rooibos, that is green is color, is lightly steamed to halt oxidation, retaining the green color in the leaves and the high levels of antioxidants, more than double the amount in green tea!

The green rooibos in our Be Active Teas collection is sourced from Zeekoevlei, a Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farm located in South Africa’s vast Cederburg Wilderness Area, where leopard, lynx and antelope roam free. Zeekoevlei protects the land by growing chemical free rooibos and also empowers farm workers and their families. A sustainable economy is being achieved in allowing the workers full ownership of the rooibos produced and sold. Buying products with the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal of approval safeguards the rights and well being of workers, conserves natural resources and protects wildlife and the environment.

Green rooibos has a more delicate, herbal flavor and steeps into a light orange-yellow cup, and it serves as a delicious base for the Be Active Teas collection.  Each tea in the Be Active Teas collection is designed with specific results in mind from energy and flexibility, to metabolism, hydration and a speedy recovery from a vigorous workout.
