Announcing Our 2017 First Flush Darjeeling

The Republic of Tea is excited to announce this year’s 2017 Limited Edition First Flush Darjeeling from Jungpana Tea Estate. Regarded as the ultimate tea experience, only limited quantities of this freshly plucked, organic full-leaf tea are available from The Republic of Tea, selected on site and sent via air-freight to ensure the freshest tea possible for you to sip.


What is First Flush Darjeeling?

Darjeeling is considered the “champagne of tea” and is only grown in the Darjeeling region of India (on the northeastern edge of the country). First Flush is the picking of the brand new two leaves and a bud in early spring, so the window of harvest and amount harvested is extremely limited. The Republic of Tea’s pure, 100% Darjeeling tea is certified by the Tea Board of India.

An Island in the Mountains

Jungpana Tea Estate, known for its high quality, is protected by nature. The estate can only be accessed by foot through mule trails, across wooden bridges and up a flight of 638 stairs. The garden, first planted in 1899 by Henry MontgomeryLennox, is 100% china jat.

Tasting Notes

This first flush boasts a light liquor with a beautiful sweet, slightly muscatel character that gives way to a uniquely floral, aromatic tea.
