Some food scientists even proposed adding dried chlorella powder to common food items, in order to increase their nutritional content.
Thanks to modern advancements in agriculture, widespread hunger is less of a concern than it was predicted to be in decades past, at least in developed nations. However, chlorella remains a popular dietary supplement thanks to the nutritional and antioxidant benefits discovered by researchers in the 1940s and 1950s.
