Happy National Mushroom Day! Each year on October 15th, mushroom lovers celebrate the wide variety of edible and functional mushrooms available to us. Mushrooms have been used extensively in culinary and healing practices around the globe for thousands of years.

Functional mushrooms, also known as medicinal mushrooms, are rich in vitamins, minerals and other compounds. These ancient fungi have long been used in folk medicine and may offer benefits such as immune support, anti-inflammatory properties, improved energy and heightened concentration.*

In honor of National Mushroom Day, keep reading to learn about several of the most popular functional mushroom teas.

Reishi Mushroom Tea

Nicknamed the “mushroom of immortality,” reishi mushroom has a long and storied history that dates back over 2,000 years to the era of the Han dynasty in China. Taoist monks reportedly used reishi to achieve calmness and focus in their meditative practices, while Chinese royalty prized the fungus for its anti-aging properties.

In modern times, reishi mushroom has been studied for its antioxidant, immune-boosting and anti-cancer properties, as well as its ability to banish stress and fight fatigue.* These benefits may be derived from reishi’s high concentration of triterpenes and polysaccharides, which are thought to improve oxygen utilization and organ function.*

Nourish your body and rejuvenate your qi (vital life force energy in Traditional Chinese Medicine) with SuperAdapt Restore and Reset® tea or Mushroom Cacao Chai tea. Both of these delicious tonics feature organic reishi mushroom powder and a blend of complementary spices. Their flavor profiles are rich, earthy and chocolatey.

Chaga Mushroom Tea

Chaga is a fungus that grows on birch and other trees in the colder regions of the Northern Hemisphere, such as Russia and Scandinavia. It has been used in traditional folk medicine for hundreds of years to treat stomach ailments, skin conditions and various illnesses.*

Known as the “King Healer” of medicinal mushrooms, chaga is rich in antioxidants which may support cellular health, immunity and brain function.* During both world wars, chaga was used as a natural source of energy when coffee availability was scarce.

SuperAdapt™ Burnout Blocker® tea contains chaga mushrooms, cordyceps mushrooms, zesty ginger and spicy-sweet cinnamon for an invigorating cup. Sip to support your daily energy levels and banish burnout.*

Cordyceps Mushroom Tea

Cordyceps has long been treasured by practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Old Chinese medical books describe its ability to increase energy, physical stamina and endurance.* Athletes have been known to use cordyceps to boost their performance.

Cordyceps is thought to improve the way the body utilizes oxygen during exercise and to boost cellular energy production.* It has also been studied for its ability to support lung function and protect against allergies.*

Cordyceps mushroom tea is considered a wonderful alternative to coffee. Give your energy levels a natural, caffeine-free boost with SuperAdapt™ Burnout Blocker® tea, which contains both chaga mushrooms and cordyceps.

Lion’s Mane Mushroom Tea

Lion’s mane mushroom is known for its unique appearance and brain-boosting benefits.* It grows on fallen hardwood trees in temperate climates throughout the Northern Hemisphere, and has long, cascading white strands that hang from its fruiting body, much like a fluffy lion’s mane.

Lion’s mane is considered to be a natural nootropic — a type of substance that supports concentration, memory, creativity, mood and other brain functions.* This benefit is linked with two natural compounds that the mushroom’s fruiting body produces, called hericenones and erinacines.

Our Beautifying Botanicals® Beauty Brain® Herbal tea contains lion’s mane and a proprietary blend of botanicals designed to keep your complexion radiant and your mind sharp.* Delight in the tart and refreshing flavor of kiwi as you sip and savor this herbal infusion.

In celebration of National Mushroom Day, we invite all Citizens to enjoy one or more of these majestic mushroom teas. Savor sip by sip.
