Probiotics play an important role in maintaining an ideal balance of the nearly 100 trillion bacteria that live in the human gut. Highly Resistant to Heat & Acidic Environments
Many probiotics are fragile. Just as heat can be used to destroy the bad bacteria in foods, it can also inadvertently destroy good bacteria, including probiotics. Like most bacteria, many live probiotic cultures are destroyed at around 50-60°F.
Bacillus subtilis has the ability to form spores that protect the microbes from harsh conditions, such as high-heat environments. This allows DE111 to remain viable under a very wide temperature range. Bacillus subtilis has been tested at temperatures of 100°C for up to 15 minutes and was found to be heat-stable under these conditions.
Unlike many probiotics, DE111 does not require refrigeration. In stability testing, Bacillus subtilis experienced virtually no loss of colony-forming units over 24 months when stored at room temperature (25°C). It has also been shown to remain stable through food and beverage processing and storage.
Additionally, DE111 remains viable under a wide pH range, including the highly acidic environment of the GI tract. Not only does this probiotic survive passage through the GI tract, it thrives in these conditions.

Clinically Proven to Support Digestion
Multiple clinical studies have been published to support claims that DE111 benefits digestive and immune health by controlling microbial populations in the gut.
These studies have demonstrated that Bacillus subtilis supports the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, and helps to crowd out bad bacteria. It encourages proper digestion by supporting the normal breakdown of complex carbohydrates, sugars, and fats.
Bacillus subtilis also supports regularity. One clinical study showed a reduction of alternating constipation and diarrhea for the participants taking DE111 (1 billion CFU) when compared to participants taking the placebo.

How do we know so much about Bacillus subtilis? More than 30 studies have been performed to confirm the safety and efficacy of DE111. It is fully genome sequenced and has received GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status from the FDA.
