Hydration and Wellness Benefits of Blue Berry Lime Single Sips®
The majestic baobab tree is native to Madagascar and mainland Africa, and has long been known as the “tree of life.” The fruit harvested from this tree is rich in minerals (including the electrolyte potassium), polyphenols and Vitamin C, which may help limit evaporation of water and prevent dehydration.* Across Africa, local people refresh themselves by poking a hole into the large fruit pod, adding water, shaking it up and sipping straight from the pod.
Blue spirulina is an extract derived from green spirulina, also known as blue-green algae. Phycocyanin is the main active antioxidant, which is a strong fighter of free radicals.* Studies have shown that it may also improve muscle strength and endurance.* Blue spirulina has a vibrant blue color and a more neutral flavor compared to green spirulina.
Monk fruit (Siraitia grosvenorii, also known as luo han guo) is referred to as the “immortal fruit.” Native to southern China, the fruit was discovered more than a thousand years ago by the Luo Han monks. Monk fruit is naturally three hundred times sweeter than sugar, and has a pleasant flavor with no aftertaste, making it a preferred alternative to other natural sweeteners such as stevia.
Much like common table salt, Himalayan pink salt helps the body maintain a proper fluid balance and prevent dehydration. But unlike common table salt, it also contains trace minerals such as potassium, magnesium and calcium, which all function as electrolytes. These trace minerals are what gives the salt a light pink tint and a clean, enjoyable flavor.
