The 2019 Specialty Food Association’s sofi™ Gold Winner: Full-Leaf Milk Oolong Tea
June 5, 2019
The Republic of Tea is honored to announce that our Full-Leaf Milk Oolong Tea is The Specialty Food Association’s 2019 Sofi Gold Award winner for the Tea category.
This premium hand-processed Oolong tea is grown high in China’s Fujian mountains. It is famous for its smooth, milky taste and silky texture. The tightly-rolled leaves have the alluring fragrance of sweet cream and pineapple, and yield a cup with light orchid notes.
About the Sofi Awards & the Specialty Food Association
Since 1972, the Specialty Food Association has presented the Sofi Awards to recognize innovation and creativity in the specialty food industry. According to the SFA, “sofi” is an acronym that stands for “specialty outstanding food innovation.”
Each year, thousands of Sofi Award product entries from around the globe are reviewed by a national panel of culinary experts at the SFA headquarters in New York City. Categories include baked goods, seasonings, olive oils, preserves, honey, chocolate, cheese, coffee, tea and others.
The entries are judged via a strict blind taste test, without any packaging, pricing or other brand identifiers. Chefs, culinary instructors and food journalists were among the 60 seasoned food professionals who served as judges for the 2019 awards.
These culinary experts evaluate the flavor, appearance, texture, aroma, creativity and ingredient quality of each product. Following the taste test, a Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winner is selected for each category.
It is a significant honor for The Republic of Tea’s Full-Leaf Milk Oolong Tea to have been recognized by these leaders of the specialty food industry. We are thrilled to be named among the most creative products and innovative brands in the industry!
The Republic of Tea will be celebrating our 2019 sofi Gold Award at the Summer Fancy Food Show, the largest specialty food industry event in North America. The Summer 2019 Show will be held in New York City on Sunday June 23 – Tuesday June 25, 2019.
