Happy National Ice Cream Day! In celebration, The Republic of Tea has curated a collection of easy and delicious tea ice cream recipes — no ice cream machine required. Starting with a base of vanilla ice cream, you can add your favorite tea to create a unique, flavorful dessert.
Note: These recipes can also be made without a blender — simply mix into softened ice cream and place back into the freezer for a firmer consistency.
1. Matcha Ice Cream
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups of vanilla ice cream
- 1 U•Matcha Single Sip (or 1.5 tsp powdered matcha)
Preparation
- Blend everything together in a high-speed blender just until blended.
- Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency or place in a container and freeze for a firmer consistency.
Note: Can add more matcha if a stronger flavor is desired.
2. Turmeric Ginger Banana Ice Cream
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups of vanilla ice cream
- 1 banana, frozen and cut up in several chunks
- 1 Turmeric Single Sip
- 2 teaspoons of fresh, peeled ginger or one teaspoon powdered ginger
Preparation
- Blend everything together in a high-speed blender just until blended.
- Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency or place in a container and freeze for a firmer consistency.
Note: Can mix into or top with dark chocolate chips, toasted walnut pieces or shredded coconut.
3. London Snow
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups of vanilla ice cream
- 8-10 Earl Greyer or Earl Greyer Vanilla tea bags
- ¼ cup milk
Preparation
- Place tea bags and milk in a small pot over medium heat, and bring to a gentle simmer. Let it continue to steep for 3 more minutes.
- Remove tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature.
- Blend tea and ice cream together in a high-speed blender just until blended.
- Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency or place in a container and freeze for a firmer consistency.
Note: Try adding milk chocolate chips or crumbled shortbread into the mix.
4. Blueberry Lavender Ice Cream
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 2 cups of vanilla ice cream
- 8-10 Daily Beauty tea bags
- ¼ cup water, boiling
Preparation
- Steep tea bags in hot water for 5-7 minutes. Remove tea bags (squeeze any tea out of the tea bags) and let the tea cool to room temperature.
- Blend tea and ice cream together in a high-speed blender just until blended.
- Serve immediately for a soft-serve consistency or place in a container and freeze for a firmer consistency.
