Recipe Image

  • 8 tea bags Hot Apple Cider
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbs unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 6 Tbs unsalted butter, melted

  1. Simmer the apple cider with the tea bags in a small saucepan over low heat stirring occasionally. After 7 minutes, remove the tea bags and simmer until reduced to about 1/2 cup. Let cool.

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray donut pan with non-stick spray.

  1. Whisk the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together in a large bowl. Set aside.

  1. Whisk the melted butter, egg, brown sugar, granulated sugar, milk and vanilla together. Pour into the dry ingredients, add the reduced apple cider and whisk everything until smooth. Batter will be slightly thick. Spoon the batter into the donut cavities.

  1. Bake for 10 –11 minutes or until the tops are lightly browned. For a mini donut pan fill 3/4 of the way full and bake for 8 – 9 minutes. Cool donuts for 2 minutes then transfer to a wire rack. Re-grease the pan and bake the remaining batter.

  1. Combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Dunk both sides of cooled donuts in the melted butter, then in cinnamon sugar. Best served immediately.
